In this video, Ayo teaches four basic djun djun (dun dun) rhythm patterns and demonstrates how they complement djembe rhythms to create the complex polyrhythms that distinguish the Yoruba drumming tradition of West Africa.

Learn the 4/4 rhythms "Bawo Bawo" and "Bamidele Bamideleola", the 6/8 rhythms "Agba" and "Ba Agba" which coordinate with the djembe rhythms taught in Ayo's book and audio CD set.

Below is a clip from the video.

Ayo is a master drummer of the Yoruba people of Nigeria. He is also a trained babalawo of Ifa, one of the world's oldest spiritual belief systems. Like Native American religious practices, Ifa uses chanting, drumming, and dancing to connect with spiritual energy.

Ayo was named Ayodele, which means my "JOY" (Ayo) has reached home."  And that joy is exactly what one feels with Ayo.

Ayo is an amazing performer. He played as a regular member of the legendary Baba Olatunji of "Drums of Passion" fame. Ayo now performs individually or with his group and dancers.

Ayo's training began in childhood to become a babalawo. Ayo came to the United States in 1983 to play for the African All-Stars Band and joined the drum ensemble of Baba Olatunji.

Ayo created his own place of worship and drum instruction called Yoruba House in Los Angeles. He taught drumming, performed ritual ceremonies and provided healing for individuals.

Ayo now tours regularly and is available for individual healing sessions on a limited basis.
